A Heck of a Job: a Compassionate President, With a Bird’s-eye View
The New York Occasions, Aug. four, 2007: President Bush acquired a bird’s-eye see Saturday of what remained of a highway bridge that collapsed final Wednesday above the Mississippi River, and planned to later tour the internet site on foot . . . “[T]he folks there are decent and resilient, and they will get through these painful several hours.”
The New York Occasions, Aug. 5, 2007: Mr. Bush took a ten-minute helicopter tour of the wreckage, wherever he could see the remains of a college bus, a truck and other autos . . . ” Our message to the Twin Metropolitan areas is we want to get this bridge rebuilt as quick as possible,” the president stated.
[Now, picture if Bush dealt with the catastrophe in Minneapolis in the very same way he dealt with Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath of that tragedy . . . ]
6 Months Later: President Bush flew over the Twin Metropolitan areas in Air Force 1 and, searching down from 20,000 ft, explained the bridge reconstruction looked “fairly good,” but was possibly “doubly great on the ground.” His flyover came 50 percent a 12 months right after Bush praised federal officials for undertaking a “heck of a career” in responding to the collapse, and he pledged “1 of the biggest bridge reconstruction efforts the entire world has at any time observed.”
Nevertheless, the billions in federal aid that Bush promised to rebuild the bridge have not materialized, many millions of it squandered by fraud, mismanagement, and waste. Minnesotans are feeling progressively disappointed that cleanup of the I-35W bridge collapse continues at a snail’s tempo. Rescue workers recently located yet another victim.
Highways about Minneapolis and St. Paul have remained congested, and some angry citizens have started to shift away. The Federal Emergency Administration Company has furnished loaner automobiles, dubbed “FEMA cars,” to these who missing their autos in the collapse and ended up unable to settle insurance policy claims or receive federal loans for new automobiles.
6 Months Later on: On the one particular-12 months anniversary of the Minneapolis bridge collapse, President Bush hovered for 4-and-a-50 percent minutes previously mentioned rush-hour site visitors in his presidential helicopter, Marine One, and blamed the Democrat-managed Congress for it’s failure to repair the I-35W bridge. Later in the day, he defended his selection to veto a five-cent gas tax that would have paid for swapping the bridge and repairing other getting older bridges across the nation, declaring that the escalating, five-calendar year-old, -billion war in Iraq was a increased priority. He explained a gasoline tax would “affect economic expansion.”
Minnesota’s Republican governor, Tim Pawlenty, right after twice vetoing a state gas tax that would have paid out for essential highway infrastructure upgrades, said he was now open to the notion. President Bush immediately fired the governor. When Bush realized that Navy divers ended up nonetheless doing work on the bridge, he ordered them sent to Iraq. He vowed to quickly deliver “armies of compassion” to Minneapolis — as long as the state paid out the tab.
Meanwhile, several Minneapolis residents are nevertheless driving close to in their “FEMA automobiles” college enrollment is at it’s lowest position in 50 percent a century crime has reached report amounts hospitals have closed and organizations have relocated.
Minneapolis’ population is now fifty percent what it was before the bridge collapse.
A Month Later: Bound for Crawford, for his monthlong summer season holiday, President Bush ordered Air Force One to make a detour and fly over New Orleans, the metropolis wherever a lot of displaced Minneapolis citizens have relocated, right after their town collapsed into chaos. Searching down on the Massive Simple, eventually rejuvenated three a long time after Katrina, thanks to the influx of Midwesterners, Bush declared that Minnesota was far too cold anyway and that the relocation to New Orleans was “functioning quite well for them.”

5 Months Afterwards, Jan 20, 2009: On his final day as President, obtaining survived the danger of impeachment that has hovered over his ultimate calendar year in company, George Bush strode stoically across the White Home lawn, climbed the actions to Marine 1, turned around a flashed two peace indications to the staff gathered on the lawn, then disappeared inside the helicopter. Within awaited three of his previous colleagues — Dick Cheney, Karl Rove and Donald Rumsfeld. As the helicopter door closed, Rove approached and gave Bush a heading-absent present, a T-shirt that read, “It’s not my fault.”
The president busted out laughing as they ascended above Washington.
A Week Afterwards: A poll has identified that Us residents believe George W. Bush was the least compassionate of the nation’s forty-3 presidents, a designation largely blamed on Bush’s ineffective response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Amongst the inquiries pollsters asked were, “Was Hurricane Katrina

a few impressions of a day of rotorfun! sorry, we hebben niet veel op beeld kunnen krijgen. Ik denk dat Gerard wel meer heeft op camera.
Compass Knight 3D – 3rd Flight
This is the third flight of my Compass Knight 3D. I had just gotten the RevMax limiter set up, and am still getting a feel for how it flies. Impression so far? YEEE HAAAAA! :^) But seriously, it feels as light and tossable as my Protos, but has that stability and groove you only get from a bigger bird. It’s lovely!
Mid american Fun Fly, Compass Atom 5.5, Dave ketelhut
at the mid american fun fly in Detroit flying around the Atom 5.5, so far im really like the helicopter, just playing around with tail blades. this flying had KBDD 84.5mm tail blades, so far these have worked the best. just had to sand the root .5 mm on both sides and they work like a charm
RC heli crash forgotten anti rotation bracket and reverse gyro death spin.MOV
Maiden flight to tune engine, complete noob-out. BUT, amazingly the main damage was to the boom, a boom support end piece, and horizontal fin mount. Of course I bent the flybar and scraped up the blades. Probably 20 to 40 usd in damage minus blades (used radix cosmetic flaw ~30). Honestly cheap at twice the price to learn these lessons: Physicaly test as many of the connections on the heli as possible prior to lift off, specifically flight systems, and I now know just exactly how a reversed gyro acts so I Will be able to avoid this in the future. A reversed gyro acts unresponsive, and kicks to the side without command, and on application of throttle to hover, it will perform as demonstrated. I probably would have been able to level the disk IF i had remembered to put the front two screws back in the anti-rotation bracket or maybe if the centripetal force of the death spin had not flung the rx battery away. What is missing from this video is me shrieking for the victory of getting it started “WHOOHOO BITCH!” just before the clips cuts in *Irony*.
Outdoor MAVSTAR (Custom-made coaxial helicopter / MAV / UAV)
Outdoor flight test for MAVSTAR final version, a coaxial helicopter driven by a pair of powerful brushless motors, a 4 cell LiPo Battery and *custom-made carbon fiber blades* (probably the first coaxial helicopter within 30cm sphere in the world uses carbon fiber blades). It carries an AVR MPU, an ultrasonic range finder, an IMU, a GPS, a compass, a wireless camera and a XBee, able to communicate with a base station and UGVs over 1km. The max gross weight weight and flight time are 455g and 12-14mins respectively. It is designed for indoor and outdoor search and tracking missions by CMR@UNSW. It won “the best UGV performance” in the first US-Asian Demonstration and Assessment of Micro Aerial and Unmanned Ground Vehicle Technologies(MAV08) in India. Website: cmr.mech.unsw.edu.au/mavstar
