Kalt Model Helicopters
Hobists love the radio controlled helicopter
Article by Nov30
A Radio Control Helicopter has now been showcased in variant design forms in the market. Utterly famous today are those with collective pitch i.e. rotation of blades happening on the longitudinal axis or one with the reverse lift. People who find stuff like hovering and backwards flight more appealing are at a benefit when it comes to Radio Control Helicopters. This happens because the special flight controls of a Radio Control Helicopter allow actions like throttle, yaw etc. which when controlled together are equivalent to the functionalities of a full size helicopter.
A Radio Control Helicopter also has a unique aspect attached to it. It can adjust the controlling signal to tail rotor servo electronically. Also, a piezoelectric gyroscope possessed by a Radio Control Helicopter leaves the pilot at ease to counter the tail movement caused by the torque cum wind action.
Since this can be called a virtual branch of robotics along with the fact it has to be made within the accessibility of hobbyists, its engine has been specifically powered by methanol. Furthermore, two stroke motors is an additional feature that helps in serving the purpose. No doubt all this is obviously a considerable point, but what’s more commonly seen in markets today are a perfect combination of lithium polymer batteries and electronic brushless motors. It is a highly efficient and high performing combination. Not only does the coveted features of the latter capture the attention of hobbyists, but also the dip in price as compared to the brushed motors.
Broadly, there are two types of Radio Control Helicopters. One is ‘Nitro’ or also known as ‘glow fuel’ helicopter and the other Electric helicopter.
Nitro helicopters are obtainable in various sizes. It is fundamentally the flight time that varies on the basis of engine size and tuning.
Kalt Whisper, based on the Nickel-Cadmium battery, emerged in the mid 1990′s as a small electric Radio Control Helicopter. The flying time of an electric helicopter largely depends on the flying style, besides the battery capacity.
Where a nitro helicopter could be flown for 7-14 minutes, an electric one could do in one take-off, only a span ranging from 4-12 minutes.
